Welcome to Quilt As Art

Retired teacher and pathologist Barbara McCraw is a Master Quilter whose pieces have been exhibited across North America and Europe. Her pieces are in numerous collections including the James Museum of Western Art, the University of Michigan, the North Carolina Central University, Denton County African-American museum, and the Denton County Courthouse on the Square Museum.

Quilt As Art is the home of Barbara McCraw, an award winning quilt artist. We invite you to visit each page to see some of Barbara’s art as well as learn more about quilting as an art form.

Many people think of quilts as utilitarian bedcovers made for warmth and some think of it as a lost art. Quilting is now considered an art form, and I use this art to express my creativity, my heritage, and to tell stories that are important to me.

While many may think of quilting as a lost art, or something your grandmother and her friends used to do to pass the time while gossiping, you will find that quilting today is very much a new and enriched art form.
